Kryptosino Gives Players 30 Days to Send ID and Sets No Deadline for Checking It

Worse for players

Slightly Negative

Under the Kryptosino KYC policy, an automated email asks for documents once a player reaches a deposit threshold that the policy does not state, and "No withdrawals are processed from a customer’s account until the KYC verification is completed." A player who has not sent documents within thirty (30) days of the first request is asked again, and the account is disabled, with the deposit, gameplay and withdraw options switched off. The policy sets no time for the company to check what it receives. The only clock on the page runs against the player.

What this means for players

The Kryptosino KYC policy is a short page written to the Anjouan Gaming Board's due diligence rules. "Customers are required at the point of registration to confirm their full name, date of birth and residential address." Those details are later matched against documents, which the casino requests by automated email. The page sets one deadline, and it is the player's.

  • The trigger is a deposit threshold the policy does not state. "The company operates an automated system whereby a customer playing on their brand the Kryptosino flags and sent an automated email when they hit certain deposit threshold requesting documentation." A player cannot tell from the document at which deposit the request will come.
  • No withdrawal before verification. "Customer accounts are flagged until documents received and verified. No withdrawals are processed from a customer’s account until the KYC verification is completed." The check stands between the player and every withdrawal, whatever its size.
  • Six-month-old documents, and no mobile phone bill. Identity can be shown with a current signed passport, a current photo card driving licence, a national ID card or another government-issued photo ID. Address can be shown with a city tax bill, an inland revenue tax bill, a utility bill for water, heat, a fixed line telephone or fixed line internet, a bank statement, an insurance policy certificate, or correspondence from a government authority, department or agency, dated within the previous six months. A mobile phone bill is excluded because, the page notes, it is not tied to an address. The one household bill the page names and turns down is the phone bill.
  • An outside provider handles the scans. The company works with a third-party identification verification provider to capture and check documents, and the automated email carries links to upload or photograph them. Verified players are emailed, and incomplete documents are followed up. The policy does not name the provider, so a player uploading a passport does not learn from it who receives the scan.
  • Falsified documents or an underage player. "Where documents are found to be falsified or the end-user is identified as underage, account(s) are immediately restricted." The policy says what happens to the account and nothing about the balance in it.
  • Thirty days, then a disabled account. "Where the end-user fails to submit documents within thirty (30) days of the initial request the relevant team is alerted and will request again. In those cases, the account will be disabled (meaning the deposit, gameplay and withdraw options switched off)." The player has 30 days to send documents, and the company has no stated time to check them once they arrive.

The page is clear about what it accepts and what follows silence. It is silent on the two numbers a player would most want: the deposit that starts the check, and how long the casino may take to finish it.
