Worse for players

Slightly Negative

Megapari's Dispute Resolution terms give a player 10 days from the day they became aware, or should have become aware, of a violation of their rights to serve a written complaint by email with supporting documents, and 72 hours from the end of the game for bet calculation claims on Cyber-Live games. Customer Support undertakes to answer within 30 days, a period extended until any further information it needs from the player is submitted. Where sources post different results for the same event, or a situation has no precedent, the final decision is the company's. The player's deadline is fixed in days, and the company's can lengthen with every request it makes.

What this means for players

Megapari's Dispute Resolution page is about 2,100 characters long and sets out a pre-trial procedure for any disagreement over payouts, outcomes, odds or a bet declared void: a written complaint by email, a deadline for the player, a deadline for the reply, and who decides when the facts conflict.

  • Ten days, from when the player should have known. "A complaint shall be served within 10 (ten) days of the day when the Customer became aware or should have become aware of the violation of their rights." The casino section of the same rules sets its own 10-day limit, counted from the day the bet was made. The clock can start before the player notices anything, and the two documents start their 10 days from different days.
  • Grounds judged before the complaint is examined. "Documents supporting and substantiating such complaint shall be enclosed. In default of sufficient grounds for the complaint, the same shall be returned without examination." The complaint is served on the bookmaker it is made against, and the page names no one else to judge whether its grounds are sufficient.
  • 72 hours for Cyber-Live bets. "All bet calculation claims for Cyber-Live games are accepted within 72 hours from the moment of game ending." A miscalculated Cyber-Live bet has to be spotted and claimed within three days of the game, less than a third of the general 10-day window.
  • Thirty days to answer, extended on request. Customer Support undertakes to give a full and detailed response within thirty days of submission. "In addition, where the resolution depends on the Client to provide further information, the period of thirty (30) days will be extended until all necessary information is submitted." The player's deadline is fixed, and the company's lengthens with each request for information it sends.
  • The bookmaker settles conflicting results. "In a disputable situation, when different results for the same event are posted by various sources, with their obvious mistakes, the final decision about the results determination for bets settlement is made by the Company." In situations without precedent the final decision is also the bookmaker's. When the sources disagree, the side that pays the bet chooses the result it pays on.
  • The regulator for licence breaches only. "The Client should only contact the Anjouan gaming. (Master-Licensee) when he/she believes the Company is in breach of the license." Disputes about a payout, a blocked account, a delay or broken features should first be taken up directly with the bookmaker. The page names the licensing body but gives no address for it and no next step for a complaint the bookmaker rejects.

On paper the procedure is complete: a written complaint, two deadlines and a decision-maker. Every deadline that binds the player is fixed, and every decision that settles the dispute rests with the bookmaker.
