SlotsGem Treats Bonuses Worth More Than 40% of a Player's Wagers as Abuse
Worse for players
NegativePoint 3c of SlotsGem's Bonus Terms & Conditions defines bonus abuse by arithmetic: "At Slotsgem casino it's forbidden to abuse the bonus offers available (the customer bonus ratio (bonuses : wager) is more than 40%)." The casino then reserves the right to seize the winnings gained and to switch off bonuses for the account. Deposit bonuses are wagered x40 at a €5 maximum bet, winnings from a no-deposit bonus are capped at €50 even after the wagering is done, and winnings from cashback, comp points, tournament, VIP, weekly and deposit bonuses other than the welcome bonus are capped at €10,000. Read as written, a player who loses a €100 bonus in less than €250 of bets has already crossed the 40% line.

What this means for players
SlotsGem's Bonus Terms & Conditions set the market's usual figures, x40 wagering and a €5 maximum bet, and then define abuse in two ways: by a ratio between bonuses and bets, and by a label the casino applies at its discretion.
- The 40% bonus ratio (point 3c). "At Slotsgem casino it's forbidden to abuse the bonus offers available (the customer bonus ratio (bonuses : wager) is more than 40%)." "If any such cases come to light, the casino reserves the right to seize any winnings gained as a result of abusing the bonus offers and disable the option of using any bonuses for that account in the future." The clause sets no period over which the ratio is counted. A €100 bonus wagered through x40 puts the ratio at 2.5%, so the players the line catches are the ones who lost a bonus quickly, not the ones who played it through.
- The “bonus hunter” label, applied at the casino's discretion (point 3a). Bonuses "are intended for genuine recreational players only", and "The Slotsgem casino management will review all player accounts and classify them at their discretion." "In the event a Player is classified as a “bonus hunter” or “bonus abuser”, all winnings and bonuses will be voided." The document never defines a bonus hunter, and once the label is applied the voiding covers all winnings, with nothing in the clause limiting it to winnings from a bonus.
- x40 at no more than €5 a bet (points 1e, 1k, 2a, 3j). "All deposit bonuses must be wagered x40." No-deposit and free-spin bonuses are also wagered x40 unless stated otherwise, slots count 100%, and table and live dealer games do not count at all. The €5 maximum bet includes purchased features, doubling after a round and bonus rounds bought in the game, and exceeding it gives the casino the right to confiscate the winnings. A €100 bonus needs at least €4,000 of slot bets, 800 spins or more at the €5 maximum.
- Seven days, given in the clause on no-deposit spins (points 3i, 2c). "No-deposit free spins must be activated within 3 days." "7 days are provided for wagering the bonus." Point 2c adds: "Both the bonus and the winnings will be removed once the bonus expires." The seven days sit in the clause about no-deposit spins and no other period is given, so a player cannot tell from the document how long a deposit bonus lasts.
- €50 from a no-deposit bonus, after wagering too (points 1b, 1k). "The maximum win restriction persists after the completion of the wagering requirement." "The maximum you will ever be able to withdraw from playing with the funds associated with a no-deposit bonus is 50 EUR/USD (or equivalent in another currency)." Withdrawing it needs a fully verified account and "A minimum deposit of 20 EUR is required to cash out following a no-deposit or a free spin bonus." Finishing x40 on a no-deposit bonus does not move the €50 ceiling, and collecting it takes a €20 deposit.
- €10,000 from cashback, VIP, weekly and deposit bonuses, but not the welcome bonus (point 1c). "The maximum winnings that will be paid out resulting from a cashback bonus, a comp points bonus, a tournament bonus, any deposit bonus, VIP bonus, a weekly bonus, except for welcome bonus will be 10,000 EUR/USD (or equivalent in another currency)." "Please note that any amount in excess will be forfeited prior to requesting a withdrawal." Each case is reviewed within 14 working days. The welcome bonus is the one offer the clause names as an exception, and this document sets no other cap for it.
- The deposit can leave before the wagering is done (points 1i, 2f, 1l). "When using an activated bonus, the real money from the player's account is wagered first and only then the bonus money." "Players can request a withdrawal of their deposit prior to meeting the wagering requirements. However, in this case, the bonus and any resulting winnings will be forfeited." Free spins tied to a deposit can be cancelled with their winnings if that deposit was not wagered three times. Because real money is played first, the deposit that can be withdrawn is whatever is left of it before the first bonus euro is staked.
Point 3g states that "Slotsgem casino reserves the right to change these terms at its discretion at any time." Players from Japan and Georgia are not eligible for any deposit-based bonus. The wagering figures are the usual ones, and the clauses that decide who keeps the winnings rest on a ratio with no period and a label with no definition.
