🗝️ Key Takeaways

  • Play 1,024 ways across five reels and four rows, where reels can lock together at random and stop on matching symbols.
  • Hunt scarab Wilds on reels two to five carrying 2x, 3x or 5x, which multiply each other when they meet on one win.
  • Land 6 or more scarab Money symbols to start the respin feature, with values from 1x to 100x plus three jackpots worth up to 2,500x.
  • Catch a Collect symbol to bank every scarab on the grid, then watch the multiplier climb from 1x through 2x, 3x, and 5x to 10x.
  • Choose a 3x Ante Bet for five times the feature chance, a 20x Super Spin for guaranteed synchronised reels, or a 60x buy.
  • Prepare for High volatility, a 96.53% top return, and a 5,000x cap.

Ra’s sun hangs low and enormous behind the great pyramid, so bright that the old stones seem to glow from inside. Stone sphinxes keep watch along both sides of the approach, and between them, framed by the blaze, stands a queen in a blue-and-gold striped headdress and flowing white robes.

In one hand she holds a golden sceptre crowned with the winged disc of the sun and a single red jewel. With the other she reaches out, and the air answers her: jewelled scarabs in blue, red, green and gold rise from the dunes on ribbons of light, circling her as if she has woken the god’s treasure and set it in flight.

That is the tale the reels pick up. Somewhere in the temple, Ra’s hoard is waiting in the form of living jewels, each beetle carrying a price on its back, and only the light of the sun can gather them in.

A breathy ney flute drifts over plucked oud, winding through an old, exotic-sounding scale, and every stop of the reels lands with the dull weight of stone. Once the scarabs start to fall, darbuka drums pick up the pace, strings tremble underneath, and reed horns blare out over the top.

This is Jewels of Ra from Pragmatic Play. The base game mixes multiplying Wilds with reels that can suddenly fall into step, and the real prize sits in a scarab hunt whose multiplier rises after every payout.

☀️ Inside the Sun Temple

Inside the game, the light softens to a late, burnt-orange afternoon, with a lone pyramid on the dunes to the right and a dark doorway cut into its base. The reels sit within a sandstone gateway, flanked by two painted columns with lotus tops in turquoise, red and gold.

A golden winged scarab spreads across the lintel above, and the reel backdrop is a deep night-blue wall faintly carved with hieroglyphs. The Jewels of Ra logo hangs in the top right, blue and gold letters set against a blazing sun.

On the left are two framed panels, a crimson one for Buy Feature and a turquoise one for Special Bets with a slider beneath it, both crowned with small gold scarabs. The four premium symbols are pieces of a royal tomb.

The queen from the opening scene leads them, followed by a purple jackal head of Anubis, a green Eye of Horus with a ruby pupil and a blue ankh studded with sapphires. The card ranks, ace down to ten, are each cast in a different colour, red, purple, magenta, green and blue, and every one carries a small cut gem.

The Wild is a purple scarab cradled between two golden cobras, with its multiplier stamped across the shell and WILD spelled out in gold beneath.

🏺 1,024 Ways and Synchronised Reels

A 5x4 layout produces 1,024 ways to win. A symbol pays when it appears on adjacent reels starting with the first, in any row of each, and each way settles on its single highest prize.

Our first win showed how quickly the ways stack up. Five 10s ran along the top row with three more on the row below, giving eight separate ways that paid 4.80, and with a row of Eyes of Horus adding to it, the whole spin paid 6.20.

Without warning, a few of the reels can become synchronised during ordinary play. They spin together and stop on exactly the same symbols, which can turn a single line into a whole block of matching icons.

The Wild never appears on the first reel and stands in for everything apart from the Money scarabs. Its 2x, 3x or 5x boosts each win passing through it, and if more than one such Wild sits in a single win, the game multiplies their figures rather than adding them.

📊 RTP and Volatility

The best version of Jewels of Ra returns 96.53%, with editions at 95.42% and 94.49% also offered to casinos. The ante gives back 96.52%, with the 20x spin option and the purchase both on 96.49%.

Since the edition can change from one casino to the next, it pays to know what a return-to-player figure actually promises before choosing where to play. Pragmatic places the game in its High volatility band, and the published odds back that up.

Something pays roughly once every 5.56 spins, and the respin round shows up on average every 135. Beyond that, a win over 1,000x arrives around once in 260,200 spins, and the top 5,000x roughly once in 859,402.

Numbers stretched that far make more sense next to how often slots tend to pay, and the ups and downs of this rating are unpacked in why some games run hotter and colder than others.

💰 Symbols and Payouts

The figures below use a 1.00 stake and go from five matching symbols down to three.

Premium Symbols:

  • Queen: 2.40 / 1.60 / 1.00.
  • Anubis: 2.00 / 1.20 / 0.80.
  • Eye of Horus: 1.60 / 1.00 / 0.60.
  • Ankh: 1.20 / 0.60 / 0.40.

Royals:

  • A, K, Q, J and 10 (all five): 0.60 / 0.40 / 0.20.

Special Symbols:

  • Wild (Scarab and Cobras): Lands from the second reel onwards, replaces any paying icon, and may hold a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier.
  • Money (Scarab): Shows a value from 1x to 100x, or a Minor, Major or Mega jackpot, and starts the respins in a group of six or more.
  • Collect (Sun Disc): Exclusive to the respins, it banks the scarab values in view.

A single way pays modestly here, with five queens worth 2.40. Most of the value comes from the ways and the Wild multipliers, since one win can run along dozens of paths at once and every multiplier Wild on it raises the payout again.

🪲 The Respin Feature

Six scarabs or more, in any positions, open the respins, beginning with three. If only five land in the base game, one free respin is awarded with them held, giving a better chance of finding the sixth.

When the round begins, the normal symbols vanish. The temple turns into a glowing treasure chamber piled with gold coins, the grid takes on a deep maroon colour, and the winged scarab above the reels now shows the multiplier.

From now on, the reels carry nothing but scarabs, sun discs and empty spaces. Each scarab sticks where it lands, and any new scarab or Collect puts the counter back to three.

Ours opened with eight blue scarabs worth between 1.00 and 6.00, under a multiplier of x1.

🌞 Collect and the Climbing Multiplier

The Collect symbol is a blazing sun disc. Its arrival scales every scarab value by the figure shown on the winged emblem and pays the lot, with the three jackpot scarabs always left at face value.

Each payout wipes the board, and the multiplier advances along its track of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x. Filling all 20 positions with scarabs has the same effect, paying everything on screen without needing a Collect.

Our first Collect arrived with the x1 multiplier still in place, and a Nice! banner rose over a burning sun to announce 19.00. The grid then emptied, the scarab above the reels switched to x2, and fresh scarabs began to fall, six of them showing values that added up to 12.00.

Those values were only on display, waiting for a second Collect that never came. Without one, they paid nothing, so when the last respin ran out, the feature closed on the 19.00 already banked.

🎯 Ante Bet, Super Spin and the Buy

Two special bets sit behind the teal panel. The Ante Bet is priced at 3x the base bet and makes the respin feature five times more likely to land naturally.

Super Spin costs 20x and guarantees that two to five reels synchronise on every spin, although the respin feature cannot trigger while it is switched on.

Ordinary spins accept 0.25 up to 250, and the two special bets stretch the top stake to 750 and 5,000. We switched Super Spin on with the base bet set at 1.00, and it quickly showed how hard the Wilds can hit.

Reels two to four locked together, each showing a 5x Wild in the second row, and five Eyes of Horus paid 1.60 × 125, giving 200.00 on that combination alone and 486.40 for the spin. A few spins later, a 2x Wild on reel two met a row of 3x Wilds across the bottom of reels three to five, and with the queen landing on four reels, the spin paid 226.80.

The Buy Feature panel offers the respin round outright for 60x the base bet, and the opening spin is sure to deliver six scarabs. The top prize is 5,000x the bet, and a respin round that reaches it ends at once, with any respins still to come forfeited.

🤔 Is This Slot For You?

Jewels of Ra is a strong pick if you like a base game with real punch. Multiplying Wilds and synchronised reels mean an ordinary spin can turn into a big result without any bonus at all, as our Super Spin results showed.

The respin feature rewards patience in a different way. Each collection raises the multiplier for the next, so a long run of Collects is where the biggest totals live.

Anyone who dislikes features that can end quietly should know the risk. If no Collect lands, scarabs worth plenty can sit there and come to nothing.

Two more Egyptian games from the studio already have a full write-up on our site. Our Ra vs Osiris review covers the sun god’s clash with Osiris on a five-by-five board, where the Wilds march across the reels in the bonus.

In our Luxor of Cleopatra review, the sun god’s temple gives way to the court of Egypt’s most famous queen, with Cleopatra herself taking centre stage instead of Ra.

🌟 VistaGamble’s Honest Assessment

Jewels of Ra pairs a lively base game with a respin round built on patience, and both halves have something to offer.

➕ The Positives

  • Wilds that multiply: two or three multiplier Wilds on one win multiply each other, which is how a 1.60 Eye of Horus win became 200.00.
  • Reels that move together: synchronised reels can fill whole blocks with one symbol, giving the base game real surprises.
  • A multiplier that keeps climbing: every collection pushes the respin multiplier a notch higher, up to 10x.
  • Published odds in full: hit rates for the base game, the feature and the biggest wins are all on record.
  • Plenty of choice: three different shortcuts let you shape the session to your taste.

➖ The Negatives

  • Features that can stall: a grid full of valuable scarabs means little until the sun disc appears.
  • Jackpots outside the multiplier: the three named prizes stay fixed however high the track climbs.
  • Versions that vary: the cheapest edition gives back more than two points less than the top one.
  • Super Spin locks out the feature: with it switched on, the respin round cannot trigger.
  • Small single-way pays: five queens return only 2.40, so plain wins rely on the ways adding up.

🔒 Conclusion

Jewels of Ra brings together two ideas that work well side by side: Wilds that multiply each other in the base game and a scarab round in which each payout lifts the next. The Egyptian dressing is polished, and the soundtrack quickens nicely once the respins begin.

Our session showed both sides, from a 19.00 Collect in the respins to a 486.40 Super Spin built on three 5x Wilds. Want to keep exploring?

Frequently Asked Questions❓

Three 5x Wilds on one win: 15x or 125x?

125x. Wild multipliers on the same win are multiplied together, which is exactly how our five Eyes of Horus turned a 1.60 line into 200.00.

Why can a grid covered in scarabs end up paying nothing?

Scarabs only show what they are worth. The money reaches your balance when a sun disc Collect lands or all 20 cells fill, so if the respins run dry first, the values on screen are simply left behind.

Five scarabs landed but the feature did not start. Why?

Five is one short. The game holds those five in place and gives a single respin with a better chance of a sixth, and only if it arrives do the full respins begin.

Ante Bet or Super Spin: which suits which player?

The 3x ante is for anyone chasing the scarab round, since it makes a natural trigger five times as likely. The 20x Super Spin is for base-game hunters, because it forces synchronised reels on every spin but shuts the respins out completely.

Why look at the info screen before playing?

Casinos can run this game at 96.53%, 95.42% or 94.49%, and the game’s own rules show which one you are playing. Over a long session, that gap of roughly two points adds up.

Which prizes ignore the 10x multiplier?

The Minor, Major and Mega scarabs. They always pay 200x, 500x and 2,500x, while every ordinary scarab value of up to 100x is multiplied before it is collected.
