Betzard Freezes a Closing Account's Balance for Up to Six Months and Returns Only the Last Deposit
Worse for players
Very NegativeClause 3.9 of Betzard's General Terms & Conditions says that a player who closes an account with a positive balance or a pending withdrawal has all the funds frozen for up to six months and is returned the last deposit amount, after which the casino reserves the right to withdraw the funds. Clause 3.10 says section 3.7, which introduces these closure conditions, still applies to a request to self-exclude. Withdrawals are capped at €500 a day, €1,500 a week and €5,000 a month, winnings from the First Deposit Bonus are capped at 10 times the deposit and never more than €500, and an account with no login for more than six months can be charged €10 a month. A player who self-excludes with winnings in the account meets the same terms as one who simply wants to leave.

What this means for players
Under its General Terms & Conditions, Betzard is operated by ARDENS S.Z. LTD of Cyprus, an agent of FairGame G.P. N.V., which holds Curaçao licence OLG/2024/1673/0915. The clause on closing an account decides the most about a balance, and the withdrawal limits decide how fast any balance can leave.
- Closing an account with money in it (clauses 3.7 to 3.10). "User can only close User account if it has no remaining balance (positive or negative) and no pending withdrawal requests." The next clause covers anyone who asks anyway: "In case you want to close your account with a positive balance or/and pending withdrawal requests, all the funds in your account will be frozen for up to six months and you will be returned the last deposit amount. In such a case, after six months, the casino reserves the right to withdraw such funds." Clause 3.10 states that section 3.7, which opens these conditions, still applies to a self-exclusion request. Read together, a player who self-excludes with winnings in the account is returned the last deposit amount, and after six months the casino reserves the right to withdraw the funds.
- Withdrawals of €500 a day, €1,500 a week and €5,000 a month (clause 6.13). The minimum withdrawal is €40, no more than three withdrawals can be pending at once, and the finance department processes requests Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 5 PM GMT. "Higher withdrawal limits may be reviewed individually upon request." A €20,000 win takes four months to collect.
- A pending withdrawal stays playable (clauses 6.16 and 6.17). The requested amount remains part of the available balance until it is processed, and clause 6.17 reads: "If the Player places bets or otherwise uses all or part of the funds included in a pending withdrawal request before such request has been processed, the Company reserves the right to automatically reduce, modify or cancel the withdrawal request to reflect the remaining available balance." A request made after 5 PM GMT on a Friday waits until Monday in an account it can still be played from.
- First Deposit Bonus winnings capped at €500 (clause 7.2). The cap on winnings paid to the first deposit is ten times the deposit made and never more than €500, and "Please note that any amount in excess will be forfeited prior to requesting a withdrawal." Cashback, tournament, weekly, personal VIP and other deposit bonuses pay out at most €10,000, and the First VIP x2 Bonus at most €2,000. From a €50 first deposit upwards the multiple no longer matters and €500 is the ceiling.
- Bonus rules: x40, a €5 maximum bet, a 30% bonus ratio. All deposit bonuses must be wagered x40, and live games, table and card games, video poker and baccarat contribute 0%. Exceeding the €5 maximum bet gives the casino the right to confiscate the winnings, free spins can be cancelled with their winnings if the deposit behind them was not wagered three times, and a player can be refused bonus events while the customer bonus ratio, which the clause writes as deposits to bonuses, is more than 30%. The clause gives no worked example, so a player cannot check from the document which side of the line a welcome bonus puts them on.
- €10 a month after six months without a login (clause 6.22). "If no login on the Player Account on the Website is performed (the account is inactive) for a period longer than 6 months, the Company reserves the right to charge a monthly maintenance fee of €10 starting on the 7th month from the last recorded login." The fee can be debited for as long as the balance stays positive. A €60 balance can be gone within twelve months of the last login.
- The real-money balance on suspicion of any breach (clause 10.4). On a reasonable suspicion of fraud, of any illegal or improper activity, or that a player has otherwise breached the Terms, the casino reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to take any of a list of actions, one of which reads in full: "void any winnings obtained, cancel any pending withdrawal and confiscate the real money balance of your account". The trigger reaches any breach of the Terms, and the sanction reaches the deposit as well as the winnings.
- Documents within thirty days (clauses 5.1 and 6.6.4). Requested documents, including up to 12 months of payment statements, are due within thirty calendar days, failing which the casino reserves the right to withhold payment and permanently close the account. Where the documents were asked for on a refund, clause 6.6.4 reads: "If such documentation is not provided within one month (thirty calendar days) of our request, then such a refund or reverse transaction shall not be completed, your Player account shall be closed, and you shall forfeit all the funds in your Player account, such decision shall be final, binding and not subject to appeal." The deadline is a month long, and on a refund the cost of missing it is the whole balance.
One clause runs the other way: clause 6.21 states that customer funds are kept in dedicated client bank accounts, and "Consequently, in the event of our insolvency, your funds are protected and shall be returned to you." Every other route out of the account passes a limit or a condition, and the most direct one, closing the account, is the route that returns the least.
