BitStarz Reserves the Right to Pay Substantial Wins in Monthly Instalments and Never Says What Substantial Means
Worse for players
Slightly NegativeClause 8.7.3 says BitStarz.com "reserves the right to payout substantial wins in monthly installments", and no clause says what size of win counts as substantial. The same withdrawal section sets a 1-hour target in clause 8.7.1, quotes a 10 minute average in clause 8.7.8, says it charges no withdrawal fee (clause 8.7.10) and asks for deposits to be played through once. Clause 15.1 gives players six months to file any claim, and clause 17.1 sends every dispute to arbitration in Curaçao. A player who wins a large sum is given a speed target in one clause and an undefined reason to wait in another.

What this means for players
The BitStarz General Terms and Conditions, effective as of 25 June 2025, say BitStarz.com is managed by Gareton B.V., a Curaçao company licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority under number OGL/2024/165/0185. The clauses that decide whether a win reaches the player sit in the payment policy (8), fraud prevention (9) and the claims clauses (15 and 17).
- Substantial wins in monthly instalments, with no size given (clause 8.7.3). "BitStarz.com reserves the right to payout substantial wins in monthly installments." The word substantial is not defined anywhere in the document, and no amount, currency or number of instalments is named. Clause 8.7.8 says a win of "a significant amount of money defined according to BitStarz's own discretion" must be verified with the game provider, so the withdrawal "may take longer than the 10 minute average", while clause 8.7.1 sets the target at 1 hour. A player cannot tell from the document which size of win is paid at once and which in pieces.
- Fast and free on paper (clauses 8.7.1, 8.7.5, 8.7.7, 8.7.10 and 9.9). "BitStarz.com shall try to pay out withdrawals within 1 hour, however in some cases, withdrawals may take longer", and a longer time "would clearly be stated when you choose a method of withdrawal". "Neither We, nor our payments processor will charge any fees in regards to your withdrawal", though the player's bank might. A player must "play through active deposited amounts at least once prior to withdrawal", and clause 9.9 says every deposit "is subject to wagering 1x times" and that the Casino "will cancel any payments until the player has sufficiently wagered the deposits connected". Bank transfers are "in principle processed within three to ten (3 to 10) banking days". The 1-hour figure is an aim, and bank transfer is the only payment method given its own period, a range of up to ten banking days that is itself "in principle".
- A suspected player can lose every payout, and bankruptcy is on the list (clauses 9.2 and 2.8.7). The list of suspected conduct runs "including, but not limited to" collusion, chargebacks, systematic low-risk play meant to move funds between players, bots, "becoming bankrupt in the country of your residence" and "other types of cheating". The Casino "reserves the right to terminate such Player Account and suspend and/or cancel all payouts to the player", a decision "at the sole discretion of the Company" and "the player will not be notified or informed about the reasons for such actions". Clause 2.8.7 adds that on reasonable grounds to suspect a breach BitStarz may "withhold payment of your winnings and apply such funds on account of any damages due by You". The grounds are an open list, the sanction reaches every payout and no reason is given.
- Bonus advantage play meets immediate confiscation (clause 9.10). A user who accepted a bonus "with sole purpose of creating a positive expected value on bonus return by using known practices aimed at securing a cash out of said bonus or at any way try to take advantage of bonuses received by BitStarz" faces "immediate confiscation of winnings and closure of the account with the right to withhold any further withdrawals". The sentence says BitStarz "will enforce" this, not that it reserves the right to. The examples that follow are delaying a game round until no wagering requirement remains and depositing again while free spins or bonus features are still available, but the wording reaches any attempt to take advantage of a bonus. For those examples the clause says the Casino "reserves the right to withhold any withdrawals and/or confiscate all winnings".
- Closing an account without a reason (clauses 6.2.5 and 6.3.2). BitStarz.com "reserves the right to close Your Member Account" with a refund of the balance less withdrawal charges "without any obligation to state a reason or give prior notice", at BitStarz.com's "absolute discretion" (6.3.2), and clause 6.2.5 says "all Real money funds within Your Account will be returned". When the player closes the account, the method of repayment is "at our absolute discretion" (6.3.1). A player can lose the account with no stated reason, but the clause keeps the balance payable.
- KYC with a two-week phone deadline (clauses 7.2.3, 7.4 and 8.7.11). Proof of address must be "no older than 90 days (3 months) of issuance". The Casino can phone the number on the account as part of KYC, and if it cannot reach the player "by email or phone" in two weeks from the date of the withdrawal request, the "account will be locked, since you have failed to pass the KYC procedure". Clause 7.4 adds that the outstanding balance is "subject to payment after You complete the requested procedures". The lock delays the money and does not remove it.
- A dormancy fee with a floor and no ceiling (clauses 13.1 and 13.2). After the player has "not logged in or logged out for six consecutive months", the Casino "reserves the right to charge Your account for a monthly administrative fee of a minimum 5 EUR" for as long as the balance is positive, and the fee stops when the account is reactivated or the balance reaches zero. The clause sets a minimum and no maximum. At 5 EUR a month a 20 EUR balance lasts four months.
- Six months to bring a claim, arbitration in Curaçao (clauses 15.1, 17.1, 14.5 and 14.8). Any claim "must be filed within six (6) months after such claim or cause of action arose", and disputes are "settled exclusively by arbitration in Curacao". Clause 14.5 makes the game server's result prevail and "our records will be the final authority", while clause 14.8 lets a player escalate a complaint to the gambling authority or a designated dispute resolution service. Six months from the day the claim arose is the whole window clause 15.1 gives.
- Terms change at BitStarz's discretion, and a player who declines gets the balance (clauses 1.5 and 1.6). "The Casino reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions at its discretion." Players "might be notified of the Terms change within a reasonable time and will be informed thereof", the changes "require players to consent", and "If no consent has been provided, the players are warranted to receive the outstanding account balance." The notice clause says both "might" and "will", and the consent clause hands the decision to the player.
The parts that decide a large win are the undefined word substantial, an open list of grounds for cancelling payouts and the six-month limit on any claim.
